SAN ANGELO NEWS
It has been a busy week in San Angelo! We had a city wide election on Saturday and San Angelo Gives yesterday. I was looking through the totals of both and noticed something strange. San Angelo Gives lasted for one day and received 10,567 donations. The election had weeks of early voting plus election day and only had 9,888 votes cast for mayor. We definitely need to get vote totals going forward but I sure like seeing the donation totals for the 266 local organizations. Over 4 million was donated. Here are the totals..
- Tom Green County appraisal notices have been sent. To protest your value you need to send your protest form by mid-May (May 21 is the date on mine.) You can find your protest form and value at tomgreencad.com.
MARKET REPORT & INTEREST RATES
Jerome Powell will speak today on whether the Fed Rate will drop today or later this summer. It is speculated that it will not be lowered but he has surprised us before. As of right now the stock market is up and bond yields are holding steady.
While we await the financial news, our local market had another good week. There were 43 closing and another 44 accepted contracts. We always have closings under 300k and this week was no different but we also had some higher end prices. Eight sales in the 300's, six in the 400's and four priced 500k and up. This type of activity is what we need. May is generally one of the busier months for sales so it is good to be off on a hot start. Congratulations to all of our buyers and sellers.
